Vanuatu Marlin Classic

"Approved by IGFA for Rolex/IGFA Offshore Championship"

Dania Beach, Florida, USA - The International Game Fishing Association (IGFA) is in its seventh year of the Rolex/IGFA Offshore Championship, an international fishing competition that will take place in May 2006.

The Vanuatu Marlin Classic has been named by IGFA as a qualifying event for the 2006 championship.  The IGFA fishing competition draws teams from all corners of the earth.

As a qualifying event, the Vanuatu Marlin Classic scheduled May 19-23, 2005 in Port Vila, Vanuatu, will be invited to send its winning team of up to four anglers to compete in the championship. Each member of the team will receive a one-year membership in IGFA.

The 2006 championship will be an exciting event with worldwide interest.  The 2005 championship qualifying series attracted a record 108 tournaments from 37 countries and 13 U.S. states representing over 20,000 anglers.

Tournament directors involved in offshore, inshore, light tackle and fly-fishing tournaments are invited to contact IGFA for more information on the Rolex/IGFA championship series.  Directors of junior tournaments are also encouraged to contact IGFA for information regarding the Mercury/IGFA Junior World Championship.  Up to date information on tournaments, IGFA news and  more, can be found on the IGFA web site; www.igfa.org .
